Xinzhiyuan reports
The 2026 International Embodied Intelligence Skills Competition will be held in Shanghai on October 23 — real-device training, creating a national embodied intelligence real‑world combat demonstration platform.
To thoroughly implement the deployment of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission’s “2026 Humanoid Robot and Embodied Intelligence Real‑World Training Special Action,” and to accelerate the breakthrough and large‑scale deployment of China’s robotics and embodied intelligence technologies, the International Embodied Intelligence Skills Competition preview will be held from October 23 to 25, 2026 in Shanghai.
The competition adopts the slogan “Labor is the most glorious, choose the most capable machine model worker” and adheres to industry‑driven questions and technology‑driven answers, striving to build a nationwide embodied intelligence real‑world demonstration platform, creating a replicable and scalable Shanghai real‑scene training model.
This conference follows the principle of using competitions to drive meetings, meetings to promote research, and meetings to promote industry, emphasizing real‑scene training and concrete action, and constructing an industry closed loop of “training — competition — production — integration”.
Based on more than a thousand embodied intelligence application scenario data collected nationwide by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the competition features nine tracks—manufacturing, testing and analysis, maintenance, warehousing and logistics, food and retail, medical health, safety production, emergency rescue, and cultural tourism education—and 23 events, aiming to bring together over a thousand competing teams.

The competition adheres to “real-world scenarios as the arena, real job tasks as the problems, real operation data as the basis for scores,” uniformly adopts a 100-point evaluation framework comprising four modules: task execution, embodied data collection and feedback, autonomous intelligence, and innovation capability. Differentiated conversion coefficients are set according to body forms such as humanoid, quadruped, wheeled, and the two operation modes of autonomous and remote-controlled, ensuring horizontal comparability and fair competition among teams with different technical routes.
In terms of evaluation, a triple cross-review system is established comprising a panel of embodied intelligence scientists, an AI technology expert group, and a panel of skill masters/real-scene representatives, strictly upholding safety standards to ensure authoritative and impartial judging.
The competition offers first, second, and third prizes as well as individual awards.
Each of the 23 events has 1 first prize (¥10,000), 2 second prizes (¥5,000 each), and 3 third prizes (¥3,000 each), with additional individual awards, focusing on rewarding teams that excel in technological innovation, scenario implementation, and other areas.
The competition simultaneously strengthens industry‑finance linkage, specifically inviting research teams from world‑renowned universities and overseas embodied intelligence innovation‑entrepreneurship teams to participate. Winning teams can receive intended investments worth tens of millions and comprehensive professional financing guidance, achieving “promoting production, financing, and attraction through the competition”.
A team can participate once to connect the October GDPS Autumn Conference, the December Dubai Middle East AI Expo, the July 2027 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) – three major milestones , forming a complete “showcase—go overseas—implementation” loop.
The competition adopts a phased advancement mechanism:
Phase 1by September 30 complete co‑creation of scenario competition topics, turning real enterprise pain points into competition directions;
Phase 2 byOctober 10 complete the construction of a simulated production line and conduct scenario testing and training; From October 23 to October 25, enter Phase 3 official competition period, realistically assess the robot’s generalization ability and the practical value of scenario solutions.
After the competition, the event will transition to regular operation, sequentially launching the National Real‑Scene Simulation Competition (Nov 2026 – Feb 2027), the National Real‑Scene Training Competition (Mar 2027 – Jun 2027), and selecting outstanding teams and solutions for recommendation to the July 2027 WAIC Embodied Exhibition, establishing a long‑term mechanism of “online simulation verification, offline training conversion, order implementation, and exhibition promotion”.
The competition is guided by the World Artificial Intelligence Conference Organizing Committee, hosted by the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Industry Association and the China Electronics Standardization Institute, and co‑hosted by Shanghai Zhangjiang (Group) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Lujiazui (Group) Co., Ltd. Registration is still open, and teams from around the world are welcome to apply.
